As the title says, I brewed a Brown Wheat Ale with Applewood-Smoked Leaf Hops. This was my first time using smoked hops and I’m happy with the result. They imparted more of a subtle smoke flavor than smoked malt. Recipe is available here if anyone is interested.

    Great art!

    I am curious though if smoking the hops did anything else besides add a smoky flavour. Like did it modify the hop compounds themselves?

    What about the hops used? How does leaf hop differ from the traditional cones?

      Just to clarify, I did not smoke the hops myself. I purchased them from here. I was looking to add a slight smokiness to the beer without using smoked malt (which I have done several times). Leaf hops are cone hops that have just been dried (as opposed to dried then pelletized) See here for more info.
