This is all fine for some, but i am happy with most personalization options provided by windows 10. The only thing missing is the ability to close window by middle clicking on its taskbar item (common, we can already close browser tabs this way, it’s common sense). In window i use a taskbar tweaker app and i wasn’t able to find a similar setting for Linux.

Probably even more annoying is how linux desktop hijacks most hot keys. I use Pycharm and couldn’t use any key combinations that involve ALT key because somehow Ubuntu thought that key should be dedicated to moving the window. I eas not able to find a place to disable it. This was back in (or before) 2018. I haven’t really tried linux as a daily driver since then.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Nobody is fine with Crimea - except Russia, but they want more. Crimea was the price to pay for peace, but peace was broken by Russia, so Russia does not get to keep it.

Cycling is environmentally friendly, but let’s not equate world championship to cycling as transport. The event itself must have a lot carbon footprint. Still, weird choice of event to protest, but I can see them doing what they can to get the publicity they need.

Interrupting motorsports may give then more sympathy.

Ebooks. Kindle has a nice display showing how much is left in the chapter. It has a warm light back light, and i can take multiple books with me on a trip (i have some unfinished books).

I can put down the kindle without losing the page, or having to bookmark it. And i can sideload the books for free.

Physical books are tempting too as i can get them free at a library and very cheap second hand, but i know i would still prefer to read it on kindle where i can choose the font size I like.

Boys from Biloxi by John Grisham.

I found the first part (the boys) very boring, and unnecessarily detailed. I could have skipped it without consequence. But the rest of the book was pretty good and enjoyable.

I am on GR but don’t rely on it much, just to keep track of read books, and a wishlist.

I used it to pick the best rated Daniel Silva book and was disappointed as o didn’t like it. I’d agree that reviews on GR ale not reliable, most people have different taste. What’s most annoying is how most reviews there start by summarizing the book which inflates the bloat you have to go through before you get to the review.

I only just checked out bookwyrm now, but i can’t find the book I’m currently reading there (the poet by Michael Connelly). It doesn’t look like it has as much content.

Instead of “because lemmy”, I’d say reddit now charges money for the content, but they did not pay the creator.
