Good luck to them on that… cause that is how you get a revolution. Lol

I for one hope this simply leads to the end of marriage. That whole concept is built rather one sided. Time for relationship contracts… renewable, but always finite. With separation details worked out in advance. Let’s get religion out of it entirely.
While I agree with the sentiment, this isn’t correct. They aren’t actively interfering. They are refusing to interfer when it’s thier job. And the structure was designed to remove them from undue influence of the other branches… not from politics in general, or from outside influence. Fact is, noone is truely impartial, and outside influences are pretty much impossible to remove. So the whole idea of a court that is above that is just ludicrous.
I did get a federal loan for college, so guess I must have enrolled without really knowing it. It was a really long time ago.
Someone elsewhere said the penalty was only if you did it on purpose. Not sure I buy that, but maybe.
The only reason I can see from all the comments is cost. But it isn’t about a good reason. It’s about not micromanaging what people can do from a legal standpoint. Guns are either legal, or they aren’t. After that it would be up to unions involved in these things to demand better saftey for thier people. In this case we know the standards for safely handling guns on set were not followed. Now maybe that should be a crime and not just a civil matter. I could totally get behind that.
But I didn’t know a single person who filled out any paperwork for the draft when they turned 18. So clearly there is some loophole.
Senate has to approve the replacements.
Gotta say, this was entirely predictable. So much so… was it a plan to kill off conservative voters. Hmmmmm
But this is lemmy, so the majority will feel they confidently know exactly why the guy did it, and the rest of us are just dumb. Even though we all had access to the same article, and only us dumb ones read it.
Tell me you listen to the propaganda about induced demand without… there are ways to add lanes without making it worse. But they don’t want to pay for it.
And of course every school district is identical.
Bottom line, we don’t know shit about his motive. But ooh soo many people are so sure they somehow know.
That’s an odd take. But I guess you do you.
I hope they do it, and get arrested and convicted so they can’t vote.
Cause there are always more patients… but more data will let them get more press when it enables more interesting demos.
Of course they will. But everywhere else we will know better.
I guess it is time to let them try thier experiment. I think we all know how it will get twisted and perverted. But Louisiana is probably already a lost cause. Maybe we should provide financial assistance to people wanting to move from a red state to a blue state… kinda like internal asylum. It should go both ways of course.
I grow weary of all the attempted comparisons between streaming and cable. Even if it cost the same (streaming is still cheaper), you don’t have to call a tech to fix the dvr, which will wipe all your recordings… or pay per tv you own, rather than the number you are actually using. Of and you can watch it when you aren’t even home. Streaming is sooo many 1000’s % better than cable in soo many ways. Is it enshitifing, he’ll yeah. But still way better.
On the tipping subject… it is just another way the well off designed long ago, to reinforce that the working class worked for them. Originally it was the business owner that they were targeting, to make sure they stayed dependent on the good graces of the elite. After all, back then most businesses were mom and pop shops. Now it is just out of controll, and used to increase profit margins as well as extract more cash from people who have trouble realizing the full cost.
Well it doesn’t have to be a formal contract… but I was thinking there would be like a website with a selection you could pick from, print out, sign and done. And the main reason was to make getting out of a bad relationship clear easy, and most likely no courts involved since everything was already spelled out. Open sourced contracts would in theory be well vetted to be fair.
