The “who do you want to be in the white house when the phone rings at 3 in the morning?” write themselves.
Jesus fucking christ.

I can kind of feel the author on this. I’m in charge of a lot of “special projects” at work that basically come down to, “figure out a way to replicate this extremely expensive technology or software using low cost or free alternatives”. It ends up being an unholy mix of programs and hardware that is held together with duct tape and super glue and any minor perturbation means something breaks.
Contaminated Burritos is a good name for a band though.
Newsome is charismatic but would be a hard sell to Georgia and the Midwest.
Whitmer would be good since she’d motivate more women to vote and would do will in the Midwest.
Harris is right out. She has negative charisma.
Raskin has charisma but he’s an old ugly white guy. Wouldn’t turn out the youth vote.
Jeffries would be a good pick if he had started campaigning a year ago.
Stacy Abrams is in the same boat. If she had a year to get more name recognition she’d have a chance.
Aoc, Crockett, and moskowitz are good back benchers but won’t be ready for a few more years yet, if ever.
If I had to choose it’d be Whitmer. She has the fewest negatives, as long as there are no skeletons in the closet waiting to come out.
Honestly if it meant everyone got kicked offline I might take that exchange. Turns out access to the entirety of human information and misinformation is a pretty good way to go extinct (at least at the rate we are going).
Re trumps numbers after conviction, I think the conviction was a forgone conclusion for most people. Having 12 people confirm what you already know is true doesn’t make someone flip their vote.
If the trial had been televised with Trump asleep in court, I think you would have seen a bugger drop but it would have preceded the actual conviction.
An individual poll might be but agreggate polls definitely can show a trend. The trend is not good for Biden. He took all the wind out of his sails last week. I’m in the anyone but trump camp but how can anyone in good faith argue with an undecided that Biden has another four years in him?
Records are great but elections are about the future.
I’m not a dem but will vote for anyone with a pulse that isn’t trump. Dems are deluding themselves if they think Biden is their best or even only candidate that can beat Trump. I want someone that will instill confidence and contrast with Trump. Biden ain’t it. I’ll still vote for whoever isn’t trump on the ballot though.
If you’re bringing in the four rules in a discussion about gun safety on movie sets then you’re not arguing in good faith. As an actor you must trust that the armorer is never going to hand you an unsafe gun. If they do, it’s on the armorer.
That’s not true on movie sets though. Actors rely on armorers to keep everyone safe. Expecting actors to also be responsible would be unduly onerous. The system, when it works, works incredibly well. There have only been a handful of firearms accidents on sets. Which is crazy seeing as how almost every movie these days has guns in it somewhere.
The rust shooting had failures at multiple levels but the actor isn’t responsible for those failures.
Arrest the freedom Caucus and pass legislation to fix this before they can be replaced.
The result of this is that the only people who can get into office are literally perfect or they’re very good at hiding their activities. You leave no room for normal people with varying levels of flaws and foibles and ‘weird’ interests to participate.
You can insult me all you want. I wanted Biden to tear trump a new one. He had one job that night and he failed miserably.
Biden was borderline incomprehensible and his answers went in three directions at once. I would have been thrilled if his only problem was a raspy voice.
My browsing history is my business, not yours or anyone else’s. You may as well start asking for my correspondence history, a record of the content of my private conversations, etc…
I understand the danger that bad actors posing as normal candidates pose. Trust me, I’ve dealt with it first hand. But throwing out huge swathes of otherwise qualified candidates because they aren’t willing to share every piece of their personal life is not the remedy.
I’m an elected state official in Florida at the extremely local level. Fuck off with that. People don’t need to know my browsing history. It’s entirely possible to judge someone’s fitness by the acts they take in office alone.
I think Whitmer is the better choice. It locks up Wisconsin and brings in the woman vote. It’s also an aspirational vote, like Obama was in 2008.
That didn’t help Clinton, obviously, but Whitmer is no Clinton (in a good way).
There’s about six weeks to the convention. That’s enough time but barely. Harris will want to take the top spot, and maybe she should, but Newsome is the one that could beat Trump, maybe.
What a disaster.
Two words: brokered convention.
I almost wonder if Biden’s staff suggested this super early pre-convention debate so he would be forced to acknowledge he needs to step down. I can’t see any other explanation.
I’m not passing blame. Just giving an example.
