  • I mean, a sample of 8 is not really a sample, but I can see it being true for some undecided voters if those voters are savvy to know a lie when they see one (plus not everyone cares about the age narrative).

That said, how is anyone undecided at this point? I wouldn’t exactly trust them to breathe and walk at the same time, let alone vote informed.

Doom and gloom aside, we’re still a few months out so things happening now aren’t going to make a huge difference. I just wish this wasn’t all up to indecisive people in indecisive states…

  • Salon always has a bias, but I also can’t help but think he was on Sudafed or something. I also have seen him at other things and he’s generally less… raspy. Doesn’t change that it was stupid to go on like that, though.

I fortunately skipped the debate and only watched highlights, though. I already hate “debates” as far as I remember since, at best, it’s just fluffy sound bites and vague promises, and at worst, a series of unrefuted lies. This sounds like everything I hate about typical “debates” turned up to 11.

  • Reading the comments about Domino’s coupon obsession, I feel like giving an economics story about when JC Penney said nuts to sales and coupons and nearly went bankrupt.

Corpos in food and retail found that overpricing things then hitting you with deals and coupons caused American audiences to feel like they were getting a good deal. 15 buck pizza for only 6 dollars? Sounds like a deal until you realize that it’s really cheap to make thanks to suppliers and premade frozen pizzas. But if they always price it at 6 bucks, you’re gonna raise an eyebrow.

What if you don’t do that? JC Penney had that idea a few years ago, since their industry basically priced jeans for 100 bucks and then said they were 70% off almost every day. So they tried everyday low prices and… they nearly bankrupted themselves. Lots of factors, but their main factor was their usual clientele thought they weren’t getting a deal even though the prices were cheaper than competitors (while not really attracting a new audience savvy enough to know sales are a scam).

Point is, Domino’s is in a cycle of coupons or bust. It’s a shame you don’t have good pizza options at reasonable prices nearby, though, and a shame the good old days of free delivery seem behind us.

  • Given school budgets, if they wanna go any lower they’ll need to subside it better. Although most of the schools where I am already maintain a good temp.

There’s so many scenarios a rule like this would cover, too. In some places, and with some crumbling AC units, it’d probably cost a fortune to even reach 80. I know a relative up in Fresno who pays over 1k in electricity some months (although, no sympathy buying an overly large home in a place like that, something like 3k sqft takes a lot of air!).

  • Who’s both charismatic, young, and intelligent? Don’t get me wrong, I’m quite aware people lie to manipulate others (that’s like all religions) but I don’t think there’s someone in the GOP, or are GOP aligned celebs, who fit the description. Like… who? The best they ran celeb-wise Dr. Oz and he’s am uncharismatic weasel.

Maybe two of the three, but even that’s a stretch (DeSantis for instance might be two of three but I have doubts he’s particularly intelligent; maybe by GOP standards). I guess someone could emerge but whoever they are, they ain’t on my radar.
